  • what is equine sports massage?

Equine sports massage uses a range of techniques to manipulate soft tissue, which includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia

  • what type of horses benefit from a sports massage?

Absolutely any horse, happy hackers, competition or retired horses .  If you are unsure whether your horse would benefit please get in touch to discuss

  • does the horse enjoy it? does it hurt?

Most horses really enjoy their sessions however on occasion they may be uncomfortable or have an area of tension that is quite tender.  Massage techniques used are adapted to suit every horse and their individual requirements 

  • how do I arrange vet consent?

You can ring your vet to request consent as they will often grant this verbally.  Alternatively you can ask me for a copy of my consent request form and email this to your veterinary practice.  If your vet would like to speak to me directly, I am happy to give them a call for you

  • what are contraindications?

Contraindications are certain situations in which the horse should not be massaged, e.g. infectious diseases skin infections, open wounds, viral infections

  • how do I know if my horse needs a massage

All horses can benefit from a massage

  • how often should my horse be treated?

This depends on many factors but usually every 8 - 12 weeks for a maintenance treatment.  Rehabilitating some injuries may require more frequent sessions
